Mailpuccino can also be run with JDK 1.1.x and JFC 1.1. Just make sure that you have "classes.zip", "swing.jar" and "mailpuccino.jar" in your classpath when you start Mailpuccino. You may download the latest JFC from here.

  FAQ
Q.Does Mailpuccino use the JavaMail API ?
A.No. I've implemented the POP3 and IMAP protocols individually and independently. So far, I've only used the Java Core API and Swing. In the future, I may also use APIs like InfoBus or JMF. Note: I have nothing against JavaMail; I just prefer to do it myself.

Q.Who wrote Mailpuccino ?
A.Me. Only Myself. Kong Eu Tak. Until now, I've been developing Mailpuccino single-handedly. I do hope that some kind-hearted and skilled developers out there can help out though.

  Known Bugs/Issues

  • None at the moment!

  Tried and Tested Platforms

Ideally, Java is cross-platform, but due to the plethora of different VMs (and their numerous versions) out there, or programming oversights on my part, I guess it's inevitable Mailpuccino occasionaly fails to run under certain platforms. Therefore, I am appealing to users out there to inform me if you succeed/fail to run Mailpuccino under a non-Windows platform !

Please send me an Email too if you encounter hitches, bugs, erratic behaviour, etc. under certain platforms. These are the the plaforms that, I have been informed, can run Mailpuccino smoothly:

  • IBM OS/2 Warp V4 and IBM JDK 1.1.6
  • Windows NT and 95
  • Solaris
  • iMac, PowerMac 9650 (with MRJ 2.1 and Mac OS 8.5.1)
  • Linux 2.1 (Debian, Redhat, etc.)

Can somebody tell me if Mailpuccino runs fine on the various flavors of Unix?
